Estimate streaming data before using a capped connection
Multiply the average bitrate in megabits per second by 0.45 to estimate decimal gigabytes per hour. For example, a steady 8 Mbps stream uses about 3.6 GB in an hour before overhead.

Treat the estimate as a starting point
The calculation uses 3,600 seconds in an hour and eight bits to a byte. A player can change quality while you watch, so measure an ordinary session if the exact amount matters.
Add the screens and hours you expect to use
Two equal streams use roughly twice as much data while they run together. Multiply by the hours you watch, then leave room for updates and other household devices. Check the usage dashboard for the connection you will actually use.
