Plan your TV setup in Ireland
Start with your Eircode and the telly you use. Check the available connection and run a viewing test at home before changing your TV setup.
A streaming check for a Dublin flat
If the router sits in a hallway or utility cupboard, compare the same programme beside it and on the telly. Keep the evening test at the flat where you plan to watch. A speed reading at work or in another building will not tell you what reaches that room.
Test the room where you watch in Cork
If the main telly is on another floor from the router, take a reading on each floor before paying for a new player. In a shared house, repeat the test while the other rooms are using broadband normally. It can help you decide whether to try a cable or ask about Wi-Fi placement.
Check a Galway setup before a long term
If you expect to move during the year, compare a short term with a longer one and test the connection where you live now. For a mobile or shared line, measure the same evening hour on two days. Check the data allowance as well as the speed.
Compare a TV bundle with your Limerick setup
Ask for the broadband-only price at your Eircode before dropping a TV add-on. Set aside any cost you would still pay for the connection. Then test the player you intend to use on that line, rather than assuming a change of television package also changes your broadband.
